RULES A Historical Note: This is, primarily, a game for those who like history. As such, historical accuracy is something to keep in mind. We do not expect everyone to have a Master's degree. Just try to keep in mind where your character, and other characters, come from. Changes in world outlook and opinions will happen here, but it should be gradual. That being said, please remember that we live in an age that is far more accepting than the ones that have come before, and characters will come with the ideas, fears, experiences, and prejudices of their times. IC != OOC. All players within this game are adults and so are expected to act as such. If you wish to play a character that may be fall into a particularly difficult category with regards to this sort of thing, your app will be carefully reviewed by the mods. We ask that you make a screened permissions post in your journal so that, if anyone is particularly uncomfortable with certain aspects of your character, you and they will be able to avoid any problems. Though there are difficult subjects that may come up due to the nature of the game, we expect players to treat them with respect. Again, IC DOES NOT EQUAL OOC. Just because a woman from 19th century America is not used to seeing openly gay couples does not mean that the player is a homophobe. We do, however, have a zero tolerance policy for out of character hate speech. If you can't be reasonable, leave. AGE LIMIT Currently the age limit to join is set at 16, due to the somewhat mature nature of the game. However, players under 18 are not allowed to engage in sexual RP within the game. If we find out you are lying about your age, you will be permanently banned. End of story. CHARACTER LIMIT There is no current limit on characters. Please try to judge for yourself whether you will be able to keep all of your characters active. This is subject to change if necessary, but we'd rather let people decide for themselves. However, we do ask that you not play two or more characters who would have to interact with each other regularly. ACTIVITY REQUIREMENTS Activity checks will be done once a month, at the beginning of each month. You are required to submit two pieces of activity. This can be one journal entry and one log, two journal entries, or two logs. If you do not make this activity, you will be placed on the warning list for one week. If, after one week, you do not submit the necessary activity, you will be removed from the game. If you need to appeal a removal, please go ahead and leave us a message in the mod dropbox. We'll try our best to work with you on this. HIATUSES Hiatuses are allowed for up to one month. If you need to take a hiatus, please leave it in the mod dropbox with the subject "HIATUS", and the duration. PBS PBs should be both age and time period appropriate. Due to the difficulty of finding PBs for certain periods, we will be more lenient on this, but try your best. If you have any questions on the appropriateness of a PB, please leave them in the mod dropbox and we will address them ASAP. You may reserve your PB for 72 hours. THIS DOES NOT MEAN THAT THE PB IS GUARANTEED TO BE YOURS. What it means is that, if we receive another application with he same PB, we will wait until yours is in to review the applications. PLOT Plots are primarily character driven, and can be anything your heart desires. Characters will need to find ways to live and work within the village, and may even attempt to escape (though attempts cannot succeed unless you drop your character). Major plots (death, rape, and pregnancy, for example) should be run by the mods. JOURNALS Journals are portable electronic devices. They are much more technologically advanced than anything else in the game world. They look similar to a tablet PC or iPad, and are capable of recording text, audio, video, and photographs. They cannot access anything like the internet. They can only access the journal systems. Each character will find one with them when they arrive. They are activated by pressing the power button, and will play a helpful tutorial on how to use them on the first start. Entries posted in journals are viewable to everyone unless stated otherwise. LOGS Logs should be posted like this: Characters: [Who?] Setting: [Where and when?] Rating: [A general rating.] Warnings: [Warn for adult content, graphic violence, and any squicks you might think of.] Summary: [What's going on?]
